No plants or animals may be taken from any of the Clark County Park District properties. Relocating wild animals may increase the risk of spreading zoonotic diseases to domestic animals and/or humans.

In addition to wildlife, no flora (wildflowers or trees) can be removed from the park. All of our parks are considered nature preserves.

The Clark County Park District Rangers and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources possess the authority to ticket those in violation of this rule.

Releasing wild animals into the park is prohibited by the Ohio Administrative Code. Please go to www.owra.org  to find a rehabilitator in your area.

In the Miami Valley, please call Brukner Nature Center at (937) 698-6493 (birds, mammals, reptiles) and Glen Helen Raptor Center at (937) 767-7648 for raptors (hawks, owls, vultures).

Hunting is prohibited at every Clark County Park District park, including the Estel Wenrick Wetlands. For public hunting and wildlife area locations, please visit the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Trapping is prohibited in all of our parks as well.

Fishing is allowed only at Hosterman Lake located within George Rogers Clark Park or at the access points to the Mad River at the Mad River Gorge & Nature Preserve and Spangler Nature Preserve. Fishing is open from 8:00 A.M. to dusk. No fishing license is required at Hosterman Lake, but is required when fishing in the Mad River.

  • Bass must be released. Fishing regulations are posted at the park.
  • Please be careful to pick up litter before departing, especially fishing line. Monofilament line poses a threat to wildlife, marine life and even the longevity of your boat. Fishing line recycling tubes are available at the north shore and east shore of Hosterman Lake. Your favorite local bait and tackle shop may also offer monofilament line recycling.
  • More fishing rules are posted on the kiosk at Hosterman Lake. Please take the time to read these before casting your first line.

Mushroom hunting is not permitted at any local nature park. It is permissible at state parks across Ohio, with restrictions. Potential hunters are urged to telephone the office of the state park they wish to visit in order to learn the special rules of mushroom hunting. A list of state parks is available at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Metal detecting is not permitted at any of our parks.

Geocaches are welcome at the parks. They may be placed along any of our trails on park property.
